I wish that Sony and Microsoft would merge. Just as a resolution. I mean you cant play Kingdom of Hearts on xbox (and if you can i didnt know) and you cant play Halo on a playstation consol. They would make more money if they were to merge as well.

Well, sure, it sounds great when you put it like that, but your missing one key factor here...
Competition!
Just look at gamestop and how they take advantage of the consumer all the time. you honestly think the same thing wouldn't happen if sony and Microsoft merged. There would be no competition (Although the Wii U is still out, i don't really put them in the same category, as Wii U is more for casual gaming) Which means one of two things (or both) will start to happen.
1. Hiked up prices.
2. Lazy work (a.k.a. the production of shitty games)
Why will these things happen? Because you have nowhere else to go. You would HAVE to buy your games from them or else switch to PC gaming, which, I'll admit, isn't for everyone.
If this were to happen, the best case scenario would be that all the game manufacturers decided to make their games for the Wii U and sony and microsoft are dead...but then nintendo wouldn't have any competition again and we're right back where we started.
The thing is...console gaming is going to crash and burn either way. i don't know when, but it will happen eventually. This kind of merger would make everything happen a hell of a lot faster...then again, what do I know, I'm no business man.
